On Going Internet War – Facebook vs Apple

There has been a war over the internet for the past decade between Apple vs Facebook. Last week Facebook started a campaign blasting Apple’s decision to give iPhone users an option to disable apps from tracking their personal data. Facebook made it clear that Apple’s move will hurt small businesses that use Facebook’s targeting advertising to reach their customer base. Many users thought they were being hacked. Some user have reported it has taken 3 attempts to change their Facebook password to log back into the app. There have been reports of users still unable to log in at this time. And a few reports of lost photos/data.

Facebook App Response to incident

Here is what Facebook had to say in the early hours of the morning.  We are assuming their PR Team/Social team were off the clock at the time.

Facebook: In early 2021, Apple will begin to enforce their App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. Once Apple enforces the prompt and it’s shown on Facebook and Instagram, app advertisers and advertisers that optimize, target and report on web events, will be impacted by limitations on data sharing. As a result of the impact created by Apple’s policy requirements, we’ve developed forthcoming updates to attribution settings. Facebook.com More Info:
